General Information for Fractals page

Imagine the beauty of a fractal from the Moon Dance Design Fractal Gallery on that wall over your sofa! How unique! It is sure to be a conversation piece! Fractals are a section of digital art that is probably more dependant on the computer than other forms of digital art. This is because the artist uses the computing power of the computer to do the mathematics involved in creating the mathematical art of a fractal. The artist decides on the formulas and coloring, the computer does the math...perfect combination. Any fractal design in this gallery could not have been created without a computer, thus making it a pure form of digital art. (more about fractals here) Enjoy the fractal art in this gallery, imagine the conversations they will spark!

Most of the fractal images in the fractal gallery were created using Ultrafractal. However, Atlantis and Dreamscape were made using the program, Bryce. Bryce is also a fractal geometry based program, but usually makes landscapes.

All fractals are dependent on fractal geometry formulas. These formulas combine to create the beautiful fractal images seen above. Special intense coloring in a fractal is part of the joy of making fractals. It is fun to see what happens to the combined layers as other colors are added. Some fractals are also worked on in Photoshop to enhance the final image. Much of the texture in Gold Miner's Gold is arrived at through the use of filters in Photoshop. Therefore, not just one program creates a fractal, it can be many programs.
